07H40 D Alberts arrive at Marloth Station. Weather conditions fine with no mist over mountains. Visibility excellent.
07H45 D Alberts and Simon Barnard takes charge of search & Rescue Operation.  
07H50 Only two persons on trail to Boskloof who are to believed are the victims. Mr & Mrs Du Plessis. Have a cellphone but voicemail is on. Number 0825795822
07H50 Decide to send 2 groups of 2 people, one to twaalfuur Kop and one group to Tienuur Kop.
08H00 Group 1 from Marloth Station, Nikolaas and Alistair, starts towards Twaalfuurkop.
08H00 Contact Bredasdorp Fire to send additional 2 personnel with equipment.
08H10 Reported that J Niemand and 1 EMS personnel member will join operation from Hermanus.
09H05 Notified by Simon that according to new list the group is scheduled to move to Goedegeloof and not to return as expected. Decide to send group 2 to Boskloof Hut to check.
09H10 Kapt Alberts, SAPS Swellendam, arrive at Marloth station.
09H15 Swellendam Fire arrives with R Odendal & E Cupido
09H20 Simon confirms that he checked with Back Packers last night and no persons are reported missing.
09H20 Spoke to J Niemand per cell, confirms that he is passing through Caledon.
09H25 Bravo 6 & crew arrive at Marloth. J Siebrits, Wilmon Damon, Alvera Cupido
09H45 Fire Crew (Joubert, Wilmon,Alvera) are taken to starting point of route to Tienuur Kop.
10H00 J Siebrits reports per radio that they have been dropped and is starting the route.
10H10 Police reports that flares were also sighted by Farms on the other side, one being Hermitage Farm.
10H15 J Siebrits reports per radio they picked up foot prints.
10H45 Kapt Alberts reports that they received information that the 2 flares were discharged by an off-duty police officer, a certain Mr Burger during a braai..
10H50 J Niemand from EMS arrives at the control point.  
10H50 Search called off because no other relevant information or reports other than the flares were received.
11H00 Discussed matter with Kapt Alberts and informed him of possible charges being laid against the person/s who shot off the flares. Asked him to investigate the matter.
11H30 Crews report back from walking trail, Search & Rescue operation closes down.
